ZOO

So this last Saturday I convinced LaShauna that we needed to get out of the house (I was going crazy), so we took a trip to the zoo. Moses loved all the animals and even got to pet a couple in the petting zoo. We saw a sleeping tiger, a swinging monkey, a bunch of birds, and A LOT of other animals. Moses' favorite had to be the "Elephant outside." He loved just watching it. Kael tolerated the whole outing!

After the zoo we went to a nearby park and had a picnic. A sister in our ward had made us a great little picnic and just so happened to have delivered it to us that morning so it worked out great. Moses loved to play in the playground and I think everyone got a little sun.

OCD

We always knew that Moses liked his routines, but now we think he might be a little OCD. He loves to line up his cars and then send them down his track. Well, we recently moved his track and this day he started his line of cars a little too close to the couch.....so, instead of moving all the cars or starting over, we found him laying on his tummy with his arm stretched as far as he could reach under the couch....adding to the line of cars!

Kael Douglas

Kael Douglas finally came to join our family one day early, although LaShauna thought he should have come about two weeks ago.

He was born May 9th at 7:54 A.M.

He weighed 7 lbs, 13 oz

And was 20.5 Inches long.

Moses wasn't so sure at first that he wanted a little brother....especially when he realized that he might be coming home with us. But so far I think that he has warmed up to the idea!

Moses was watching a movie when I took this picture. He had his feet up and he was eating dry cereal from his bowl. He looked surprisingly grown up... and very relaxed!

8 long years

It's official, I'm DONE medical school. I just finished my last exam. So yes, I would now appreciate it if everyone would now address me as "Scott Smith, M.D." (There are WAY to many "Dr.'s" out their....Dentists, PhD's, etc). Plus, it reminds me of Doogie.

Now, I just hope that I can actually practice medicine, pending results of my licensing exam!

First Skinned Knee

Moses skinned his knee for the first time! He was running while we were on a walk and he fell. He was shocked and surprised. Someone did point out to me that it was strange for a 2 year old to be getting his first scrape, but I guess you would have to know Moses. He didn't start walking until the beginning of summer last year and he is a very cautious child. He knows what he can do and never pushes the limits. He doesn't ever climb and is still learning how to jump! Plus summers are short here and you kind of have to be wearing shorts to skin your knee properly!

It was really sad when he got in the bath. We had to clean his knee and he just screamed and cried and tried to hold his entire leg out of the water. It is so hard to be two!!

When boys get bored...

Poor Moses. We had some friends over and the subject came up how Moses needed yet another haircut. The boys thought it would be funny to give him a mullet. At first a refused, but eventually we compromised with a mullet for the weekend, and Scott would have to finish cutting it on Monday.

Moses hates haircuts (even when they aren't mullets) so it wasn't much fun for him. But he got candy throughout and a cupcake when he was done. The candy didn't help much, but the cupcake seemed to make him happy.

Best Friends

Moses and a neighbor girl are best friends. Her name is Elizabeth and she lives about a block away. They play at each other's houses at least once a week, and they play together really well. They are only a couple months a part and enjoy playing the same kinds of games. They play with a lot of cars and books over at Moses' house, a lot of dolls at Elizabeth's house, and puzzles at both houses!

They seldom argue over toys, and it is usually easily settled when they do. They other day Moses was playing at Elizabeth's house and they were arguing over a doll. Elizabeth went into her room and started calling for Moses to come in there. Moses left the doll and went into Elizabeth's room. She then left and shut the door, locking Moses in (Moses is still trying to figure out doorknobs). She came out and started playing with the doll that they had been fighting over! When her mom asked her were Moses was she didn't say anything and tried to look all innocent. Elizabeth knew he couldn't open the door, and she used it to her advantage! They are always doing funny things like that.

Scott and I get along with Elizabeth's parents too, so we are really going to miss them when we move!
