First Skinned Knee

Moses skinned his knee for the first time! He was running while we were on a walk and he fell. He was shocked and surprised. Someone did point out to me that it was strange for a 2 year old to be getting his first scrape, but I guess you would have to know Moses. He didn't start walking until the beginning of summer last year and he is a very cautious child. He knows what he can do and never pushes the limits. He doesn't ever climb and is still learning how to jump! Plus summers are short here and you kind of have to be wearing shorts to skin your knee properly!

It was really sad when he got in the bath. We had to clean his knee and he just screamed and cried and tried to hold his entire leg out of the water. It is so hard to be two!!

When boys get bored...

Poor Moses. We had some friends over and the subject came up how Moses needed yet another haircut. The boys thought it would be funny to give him a mullet. At first a refused, but eventually we compromised with a mullet for the weekend, and Scott would have to finish cutting it on Monday.

Moses hates haircuts (even when they aren't mullets) so it wasn't much fun for him. But he got candy throughout and a cupcake when he was done. The candy didn't help much, but the cupcake seemed to make him happy.

Best Friends

Moses and a neighbor girl are best friends. Her name is Elizabeth and she lives about a block away. They play at each other's houses at least once a week, and they play together really well. They are only a couple months a part and enjoy playing the same kinds of games. They play with a lot of cars and books over at Moses' house, a lot of dolls at Elizabeth's house, and puzzles at both houses!

They seldom argue over toys, and it is usually easily settled when they do. They other day Moses was playing at Elizabeth's house and they were arguing over a doll. Elizabeth went into her room and started calling for Moses to come in there. Moses left the doll and went into Elizabeth's room. She then left and shut the door, locking Moses in (Moses is still trying to figure out doorknobs). She came out and started playing with the doll that they had been fighting over! When her mom asked her were Moses was she didn't say anything and tried to look all innocent. Elizabeth knew he couldn't open the door, and she used it to her advantage! They are always doing funny things like that.

Scott and I get along with Elizabeth's parents too, so we are really going to miss them when we move!

Our house

150 Ryerson

The sale of our house went through today. Everything won't be final, final until we take possession on May 30th, but the contract is signed and financing is in place and it is basically ours! We are very excited. It is a bi-level with a 2 bedroom basement suite. We plan on doing some minor renovations, then renting that out. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms and one bath. We will have an extra bedroom in the basement that is not part of the suite. It already is so much bigger than the house we are now in. And the HUGE fully fenced back yard is going to be so nice!

The responsibilities of home ownership are starting to sink in, but hopefully we can handle it. We have been wanting to own for the past 5 years so it is about time we see if it will be as great as we think it is!

37 weeks

I am now considered full term. That means that I no longer want to be pregnant, even if it means Scott fails all of his licensing exams! (just kidding - kind of) My doctor keeps telling me that this baby is much bigger than Moses and I am getting scared. He told me I should just make sure and have it early so it won't be too big.

I am now so big that EVERYONE, not just Scott, is telling me that I am big. So you should all leave me comments and tell me that I hardly look pregnant at all. And if you didn't know any better you would say I had another 3 months!

Hooray for the Leavitts!

The Leavitts came to Edmonton for a quick visit. We got to hang out a bunch over the weekend. They stayed at Jesse's cousin's house - where we spent most of our time (he had a big screen HDTV and it is hockey playoff time!). We always have fun when we get together with the Leavitts, and our boys are old enough to have fun together now too. Moses loved playing with Tommy, and for the most part they got along really well. It was good to see Moses playing with a boy for once!



This last picture is a BAD picture of me. In my defense I was so tired by the time we took it that I didn't even have the energy to smile. It was a busy weekend, but we had so much fun! Thanks for the good times guys!

Scrapbook

2007 Scrapbook

I did it all in my favorite program - Photoshop CS. They are getting printed at Costco and are 12 inches square. I am very proud of it right now - but I was proud of last years too and when I looked back at it recently I realized it wasn't very good. I am sure I will feel the same about this one next year. I tell myself it just means that I am getting better. Anyway - enjoy this review of 2007!

April Showers???

I took a picture just to prove it! The snow was all but completely gone. We only had one patch roughly 1 square foot in size left on our back lawn and we had been able to take Moses to the park for the past two weeks or so, until yesterday! A storm came through the area and made it look like Christmas again. All the snow you see in this picture is from one 24 hour period! I guess April showers are a little different up here in Edmonton!

Easter

Moses really lucked out this year. He got 2 Easter egg hunts! We left for southern Alberta on Friday morning and got to Scott's sister Jenni's house around 6pm (Moses had to stop and go poop THREE times!). Scott and I planned to go looking for houses Saturday while Moses played with his cousins. It turned out that Great-Grandma Thomas was having an Easter egg hunt at her house that same day. So Jenni took Moses there. His cousins Brooke and Jaycee helped Moses find all the candy (thanks girls!). By the time we picked up Moses that afternoon, he was already really excited about the Easter Bunny and all the treats.

The next day we went out to Scott's brother Mark's house. We had a delicious Easter dinner and then we all went outside to roll eggs down the hill. (notice how windy it can be there in southern Alberta!) The rolling didn't last long before it was a contest to see how far you could throw your egg. Then all the kids decided to see how many eggs they could throw at Burke (notice the egg on the sleeve of his jacket). Moses just kept throwing the same egg over and over (he never threw it hard enough for it to break). He kept the same egg the entire time and even brought it inside with him. By the time it finally broke inside, he was so attached to it that he cried when he had to throw it away!

Monday we were home again and when Moses woke up from his nap, the Easter bunny had come! He loved finding the eggs all over the house. And then we came inside and he opened each egg one at a time and put the candy into a bowl. He wouldn't let Mom or Dad help him. He had so much fun with the easter thing that the next morning, the first thing that he said was, "Easter egg hunt?" He thought the Easter Bunny would come every time he went to bed!

Reading Books

OK - so we realize our son is a little different than most other boys his age. He doesn't climb on things, doesn't jump, and still has a hard time with stairs. But he loves to read his books! The other day the weather was nice and we wanted to go on a walk. But Moses was busy reading. We waited for a little over an hour while he read his books all by himself. Then when he was ready he finally came up to us and said, "Moses go on walk." We love him even if he is a little bit of a nerd!
