Christmas Time!

Scott and I are quite traditional when it comes to Christmas and we insisit on always having a real tree. Whenever we can we go and get a fresh one from the mountains. This year we went with Scott's brother and sister and their families. Talk about a parade - check out all 4-wheelers! It was the best way to get a tree - no hiking for us!

Moses' cousin Brody even had his own mini-quad. Moses loved riding with him on it!

After we each loaded up our tree, we went back to Scott's parents house and helped them with their Christmas Chocolates. Scott's mom makes the yummiest chocolates ever - she's has been teaching me how to make them as well. Moses was learning how to roll the filling this year. He never did figure it out, but we had a lot of fun trying.

Kael just liked getting my black sweater covered in corn starch. He thought he was so funny...

Look at what Scott wore to work today! And no, it wasn't on purpose! Poor guy actually had a bad morning, his car wouldn't start (much too cold!) so he was late and he hates being late! So I guess he ran out of the house with two different shoes on. And because he actually has my car today I can't bring him a matching one so he has to go around like this all day today! The bad thing is that only one of those shoes has his special orthotic insert for his arch support. One foot will be very sore latter today. :(

Yummy!

Every year I get together with all the ladies from Scott's family - his three sisters, his sister-in-law and his mom. We all bake about 5 dozen cookies and trade them around. This year I actually made candies, but it's the same idea. We have been doing it for 6 years now! The last few years we have met in Calgary (sort of half way between us) and done some Christmas shopping and gone out to lunch. It's always so fun to sample everyone's creative goodies. And it really feels like a start of Christmas. I love Scott's family am glad I get to be a part of it!

So Scott's sister, Carie, brought us her boys' bunk beds. Her boys are too big for them know and my boys are just big enough for them. They love them so much. Moses is already hording toys on the top bunk, which Kael cannot climb up to yet. Moses sleeps on the top and eventually Kael will sleep on the bottom. I just have to get enough guts to move him out of the crib....

Uncle Collin left Moses a little note reminding him to recycle. He knew that Moses wouldn't need a reminder - he's very particular about what gets thrown in which garbage can!

Great Falls Shopping

I just got these pictures off my friend's facebook page and thought I would share them. A couple weekends ago I went with some girlfriends down to Great Falls, MT to do some sweet shopping. I know Great Falls isn't the shopping mecca of anything, but it had all the essentials - Target, Ross, and Bath and Body Works. It was so much fun, and obviously a very successful trip. AND we made it back into Canada with out having to pay a single cent of duty/GST! I'm so glad I've got such good girlfriends that love to shop as much as I do!

Just imagine what it looked like BEFORE we took all our luggage out!

I just got back Moses' school pictures. It is funny because I still don't think of him as really being in school at all. School Pictures for preschool? But I thought it would be somehow wrong to not get at least one picture. It actually turned out cute too!

I usually am not a fan of posting stranger's children on my blog without their permission. But Moses was making such a funny face in this that I had to. So I blurred the rest out. :) I think he was in the middle of a yawn or something. Blackmail for when he's older!

Happy Halloween

We had a fun Halloween this year. Moses loved everything from the decorations, to the costumes, and of course the candy. Kael was old enough to enjoy it too, but he didn't love a lot of the scary stuff.

Moses and I made candy apples for some friends and relatives. It was actually a lot of fun. The caramel part was tricky, but the candy part was exciting. Moses really got into it. He kept saying things like, "My heart tells me it needs more candy corn," and "My heart tells me I need to eat more chocolate." I have no idea where he learned that phrase. I obviously don't say it a lot. It was funny to hear it coming out of his mouth. Candy is obviously very important and close to Moses' heart!

We had a halloween party at our house. We invited a few of the kids from our ward to come and party with us. We made a craft, ate some food, and played. The best part was the door-to-bedroom-door trick or treating. The kids really got into it and just had to go back a couple of times! It was really cute and a lot of fun. I might have to make this a tradition...

We took the kids trick or treating in Glenwood again this year. We only went to about 5 houses before they were both done. And we were dragging them to about the last 3! Scott and I were enjoying ourselves; we were a little disappointed to have to stop. Maybe our kids will let us go longer next year!

Great Grandma Thomas was a little TOO scary for our little dragon.

I really should have taken a video, because no matter how many pictures I take of the back of this adorable costume it doesn't capture how cute and funny it was to watch this tail swish back and forth as Kael walked!

Boys just being boys

I don't know if it is just my boys or all boys, but my boys cannot seem to stop wrestling. The other morning they both came into my room to wake me up. They weren't in my bed for more than 30 seconds before they started wrestling each other. Even though it sometimes drives me crazy, I love them for it!

Learning body parts

Kael knows most of the names for common body parts now. Here's proof he knows where his nose and eyes are.

Mostly we just think it's funny that it looks like he is picking his nose in this picture.

Moses is a mom!

Moses has been saving his money so he could buy himself a toy. He finally had enough so off we went to the dollar store. He picked out a a little egg that had a volcano inside it. When you add water, the volcano dissolves and then you see a little dinosaur. You leave the dinosaur in for 3 days and it grows and grows until it is as big as the egg. Then you can "hatch" your dinosaur.

It was cute, but it wouldn't have been anything out of the ordinary except that Moses loved it so much! He sat and watched it until the volcano was completely dissolved. He was thrilled to discover the baby parasaurolophus. And yes, he knew exactly what kind of dinosaur was in the egg. He would hold the egg and tell it how much he loved it. And he would give Scott and I a running commentary on what the baby was watching, thinking, and saying. He even made a song up about the parasaurolophus! When the time came for it to hatch, Moses carried it everywhere with him non stop for 3 days. He claims he is it's mom. When I explained that he is a boy so he should be a dad, he said, "It's OK mom, because I'm just pretending."
