Poor Moses... it's his genetics!

Our friends, the Leavitts, came to visit us from Vancouver. They have two little boys - Tommy is 3 (3 months older than Moses) and Sammy is 18 months old. While they were here the boys would climb onto our window sill and jump. Moses really tried to do it too, but he isn't as coordinated as the Leavitt boys, so it was a little trickier for him! Notice in this video that Sammy (the baby) gets up twice while Moses is trying to get up once and the only way Moses finally does make it up is by pulling on Sammy's arm! I apologize for the video quality - I haven't yet figured out how to avoid backlighting while shooting directly in front of a window, and by the end I couldn't help but laugh so there is some camera shake! (I tried so hard to hold it in!)

Mom and Dad and Waterton

My parents came to visit us for Moses' Birthday. They stayed for a week. We had so much fun with them. Moses loves them both and Kael seemed to like them a lot too! One day while they were here we took a drive to Waterton National Park. It was cold and snowing outside, but they have these little enclosed picnic areas with woodstoves. So we gathered some wood, bummed some matches of the nearest lounge, and built a fire and had a picnic in February! Talk about making memories!

Moses is 3!!!!

So Moses is 3 years old already. I can hardly believe time has gone by so quickly. He is such a wonderful boy and I am so ridiculously proud of him and everything that he does. Still, I can't help but think, "Weren't you just born yesterday?"

To celebrate we had a small family gathering at our home. By small I mean 9 adults and 8 children - I love big families! Moses loves his cousins so it was perfect for him!

Moses' cousins gave him a buzz lightyear toy. He LOVES it. He has slept with it every night since his birthday. And to show his apreaciation he gave his cousin a big hug! This picture makes me laugh - Moses and Brody are into it, but Rhett seems to think it a little crazy!

Kael is stealing the thunder just a little bit. We are still a few months from his birthday but he ate his fair share of cake. And this was the clean picture!

Moses in a box

So Moses fits in a box! We discovered this the other day while playing with an empty diaper box. Moses would crawl in and ask us to fold the top down, then he would jump out and surprise us. When Scott got home he started carrying him around to other rooms in the house as well He would want to jump out in the bathroom, then his bedroom, ect. It was a cute little game - but that's how it always starts.

So Scott decided it would be funny to play a little trick on our basement tenants. He took the box downstairs, knocked on their door, and asked them to hide a box there for him. He told them my birthday was coming up. Scott expected Moses to jump out and scare them and we would all have a good laugh. Well instead, Moses started whimpering from within the box, crying, and saying, "No Dad, don't leave me here!" Completely acting liked he was trapped inside. So what could have been a funny little joked turned out to be a creepy, awkward, weird situation. Although, I still get plenty of laughs out it. Moses hates the box game now...

Old but Necessary

So obviously this movie is old, because it was when we were in Drumheller this summer, BUT, as I was going through our little clips.....I just loved it. So I had to post it. LaShauna will get so angry because now everything is out of order, but it's about 1 am and she is asleep on the couch, so I'm at least safe for a little while!

And We Have a Crawler!

Kael started crawling on Wednesday! He's already following me all over the house. He's so cute with his slow little baby crawls. Moses can't handle when Kael gets any special attention, so of course he had to be in the video too!

Christmas and Such

OK. So I got a little behind in my blogging over Christmas. You all amaze me with your ability to stay on top of it even when things get crazy. I was going to try and get got up, but it has turned out to be too big of a task for me! So instead I am posting an album with some of my favorite pictures from the holidays. We're Home

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are home now. Kael is still sick but it is now more like a bad cold and doesn't require a hospital stay. Thank you for all your prayers!

Respiratory Syncytial Virus

We were in Medicine Hat for our bimonthly trip when what started as Kael's cold got really bad. I left early to take Kael to the walk in clinic in Lethbridge because we didn't want to risk getting admitted in Medicine Hat. The doctor took one listen, decided it was pneumonia and admitted him to the hospital. A lot of blood work and a chest x-ray latter and it turns out it isn't pneumonia, but RSV. RSV is a virus that is just a cold in adults but makes it very hard for babies to breathe. The only treatment for it is oxygen. Kael has been in the hospital on oxygen for 2 days now. The worst part is that he is in isolation and can't leave his 5' x 12' hospital room. He has been such a good sport about it - still smiling all the time and doing his best to keep the nurses laughing. He doesn't even seem to mind that everyone keeps calling him a girl (apparently the hospital pjs are colored according to size - not gender). We get to go home when he can make it through an entire night without oxygen. Maybe tomorrow...

Through it all Moses has been at Grandma and Grandpa Smith's house. We were so blessed. Right after the doctor had told me to go the hospital I called Grandma and Grandpa and they were actually in Lethbridge just leaving a store. We were so blessed for them to be there and willing to take him. We are not sure how much he misses us though. He has been having fun with Grandma and Grandpa (As you can see from the pictures below)! The first couple of days he didn't even want to talk to us on the phone because he thought he might have to come home with us. Tonight though he told me "I want to see you." We miss him so much and can't wait for our family to be at home together again.

FHE

For Family Home Evening tonight we made crowns to remind us that we are all children of God. We read a story from the friend about a little girl who made a princess crown to remind her that she was a child of God.

At first Moses didn't want to make crowns, and kept saying he wasn't a child of God. After a while he told us why. "I just don't want to make a crown-I'm not a princess!"....Makes a Father so proud!
